About the Object
View InfoCatalogue for an experimental exhibition, the result of a collaboration between artist/filmmaker Amy Patton and curator Christina Linden.
“About the Object” scrutinizes the viewers responses when encountering objects in art spaces which are ambiguously labeled or that simply ask for additional explanation.
The exhibition was set up as a series of object installations corresponding to chapters in a book, each aiming to provide (and provoke) possible responses to this premise. The catalogue—which follows the same structure—was then presented both as an active guide to the show and an artwork in its own righ.
It was designed in two different page formats as a way of setting apart the objects’ representation from the texts that accompany them and also to enable the reader to juxtapose the text vs the object’s caption in all occasions, only having the “hidden” images presented afterwards.
This project was designed while interning at Project Projects.
